Great inaugural post David!

Although I've really only known Bushes and Clintons, as a history major myself, I have a real appreciation for the ability that leaders have to motivate and inspire.

I also think it's extremely important to recognize that a huge responsibility of the Office of President is figurehead. One would hope that Presidents will surround themselves with the best and brightest brain trust to help them make crucial decisions (this clearly isn't always the case), but the President stands alone as a representative image of the country. I think Bill Clinton excelled in that department. In contrast, I think John Kerry would've been terrible. I think Barack can be phenomenal.

Wow, with a first post like this, I'm excited to see what else you do with your blog.

Nice work.

Also, thanks for the Lijit install. The widget looks great on your blog.

And no, I don't say that to EVERY blogger.

Great post David.

It's time we hold ourselves to a higher standard. One that we are looking for in our leaders. The minute we do, bold words like the ones you point out will generate hope, change and votes.

We won't succumb to politics as usual and the slanderous, manipulative campaigns of the Swift Boat Veterans and MoveOn will simply be a waste of dollars. They won't move the needle. Hope will.
